| Obverse description | Right-facing diademed and draped bust effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupying the central field. The engraver's initials IRB appear below the truncation. The surrounding legend reads ELIZABETH II to the left and NIUE 2022 to the upper right, with the denomination 100 DOLLARS continuing along the right border. The specification legend 1OZ 9999 GOLD is inscribed along the lower arc, all in raised Latin lettering against a polished proof field. |

| Reverse description | Highly detailed naturalistic depiction of an adult koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) clinging to a eucalyptus tree trunk, with a juvenile joey nestled closely at its side to the right. Finely engraved eucalyptus branches bearing long, narrow leaves extend across the upper and lower portions of the field, framing the animals in their natural habitat. The rendering captures the characteristic dense fur, large rounded ears, and prominent nose of both animals with exceptional sculptural depth, befitting a proof strike. The inscription KOALA appears in raised Latin lettering along the lower left of the field. |

Niue has served as a licensing jurisdiction for the Perth Mint's bullion programs since the 1990s, lending its name and legal tender status to coins with no circulation relationship to the island itself — whose entire population hovers around 1,600. The Koala bullion series is an Australian product in all but sovereign name, struck by Perth and sold through international dealer networks.
The series updates its reverse design annually, a deliberate strategy borrowed from the Australian Lunar series to discourage melting and sustain collector premiums above spot.
