| Obverse description | The crowned coat of arms of Niue occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing sailing ships, four five-pointed stars, a sheaf and shell, and crossed hammer and pick, surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown. The shield is flanked on each side by a sprig of silver fern rendered in fine relief. The legend 'NIUE' arcs along the upper left periphery and the date '1988' along the upper right, both in raised Latin characters against a polished proof field. |
