| Reverse description | Two classically draped allegorical female figures are depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, one seated and one standing, representing the life-giving discovery of insulin. Between them rests a shallow bowl or mortar, symbolising the medical achievement. The inscription PRIX NOBEL PRIZE / INSULINE - INSULIN appears on a curved plinth at the base of the design, referencing the 1923 Nobel Prize awarded for the discovery. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper periphery, with the date range 1923-1998 along the left and 100 DOLLARS along the right, and the engraver's initials RRC visible in the lower right field. |
