Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after Ian Rank-Broadley, depicting the Queen with a diadem and wearing a necklace, her hair styled in curls. Reverse description A highly detailed phoenix with wings spread wide dominates the central field, its long tail feathers curving gracefully downward and its crest raised as it rises in triumphant posture. A radiant sun with fine rays is depicted above the bird in the upper field. Decorative floral and foliate branches with berries frame the phoenix on either side, and a knotted ribbon ornament appears at the base. The curved legend 77th Birthday of The Empress arcs along the upper periphery, and the fineness mark .9999 appears in the lower central field.
