Additional information

The Waratah (Telopea speciosissima) has been the floral emblem of New South Wales since 1962, though its cultural significance to Aboriginal communities of the Sydney basin stretches back far longer. The Royal Australian Mint's Wildflowers series draws on that deep regional identity rather than a unified national symbol — a deliberate choice that varies the subject coin by coin rather than defaulting to the ubiquitous wattle.

The 6th Portrait of Elizabeth II, by sculptor Jody Clark, was introduced to Australian coinage in 2019 and remained in use until her death in September 2022, making this among the final year-of-issue bullion pieces to carry it.
