| Additional information |
The Australian Swan series, launched by the Perth Mint in 2016, was designed to compete directly with established bullion programs from the Royal Canadian Mint and the U.S. Mint by offering the same fine gold purity in a annually changing design format — a strategy that generates collector demand on top of the base bullion premium. The swan itself is a nod to the black swan (Cygnus atratus), native to Western Australia and the state's fauna emblem since 1973.
The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by sculptor Jody Clark, was adopted by the Perth Mint beginning in 2019.
