Obverse description The fourth crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, rendered in high relief after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley. The Queen is depicted wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 100 DOLLARS arcs around the upper periphery, with the engraver's initials IRB positioned below the truncation of the bust.

Reverse description Two kangaroos in full bound leap are depicted in high relief, progressing to the right across a stylised landscape featuring sweeping curved lines suggestive of the Australian outback terrain. A large full moon occupies the upper left background field. The larger kangaroo appears in the upper register with the smaller following closely behind in the lower register. The legend AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO arcs along the upper periphery, the Perth Mint's P mintmark appears to the right, and the inscriptions 2018 1oz 9999 GOLD are arranged along the lower border within the inner circle.
