Obverse description Right-facing diademed and draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II after Arnold Machin's celebrated portrait, with the Queen wearing a tiara and her hair arranged in an elegant upswept style. The effigy is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, characteristic of Franklin Mint production. The peripheral legend reads ELIZABETH THE SECOND above and BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS to the right, with the date 1975 in the lower exergual area flanked by two raised dots on either side.

Reverse description A Royal Tern (Thalasseus maximus) depicted in dynamic flight, wings outstretched and body angled diagonally across the field in fine engraved detail, designed by Gilroy Roberts. The denomination 100 DOLLARS is arranged in large letters around the periphery of the coin, partially framing the bird. Below the tern, the fineness inscription 900/1000 FINE GOLD appears alongside the Franklin Mint mark FM in the lower central field.
