The Armistice took effect at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918 — a deliberately symbolic timing insisted upon by the Allied commanders rather than an operationally necessary one, which meant fighting continued and men died in the hours after the agreement had already been signed. Canada's casualties in that final hundred days of the war were proportionally staggering: over 45,000 killed or wounded between August and November, making the Hundred Days Offensive one of the costliest stretches in the country's military history.
The 311-gram format places this squarely in the RCM's kilogram-adjacent collector series aimed at the bullion-adjacent market.
