Additional information

Niue's long-running agreement with the New Zealand Treasury allows the island territory to issue legal tender coins through third-party mints — a licensing arrangement that has made it one of the most prolific bullion and commemorative issuers in the Pacific despite a resident population under 2,000. This piece is part of that program rather than a coin produced for domestic circulation, which Niue has essentially none of.

The 2025 lunar snake year falls in a 12-year cycle; the last Year of the Snake issue in this format was 2013.
