| Additional information |
Charles III's effigy appeared on Australian coinage almost immediately following the Queen's death in September 2022, with the Perth Mint among the first mints globally to issue coins bearing the new portrait. This 2024 proof issue belongs to the Red Kangaroo series, one of Perth's longest-running bullion and collector programs, running continuously since 1989.
The Red Kangaroo series carries legal tender status under the Currency Act 1965, though the face value is purely nominal against spot.
