Reverse description A black swan in dynamic flight is depicted soaring above a serene lake set within a tranquil pastoral landscape, with gently rolling hills and trees visible along the shoreline. The sky behind the swan features a softly rendered horizon with drifting clouds, rendered in fine detail against the mirrored gold field. The date '2026' and specifications '1 OZ 9999' appear in the legend alongside the inscription 'AUSTRALIAN GOLD SWAN'. The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark and the denomination marker 'P10' are incorporated into the reverse lettering, along with the designer's initials 'AH'.

Additional information

The Australian Gold Swan series launched in 2016 as Perth Mint's answer to the saturated bullion market, differentiating itself through an annually changing reverse design — a deliberate commercial strategy to drive collector demand alongside pure bullion buying. Charles III's accession in September 2022 triggered a mint-wide portrait transition across all Australian coinage, making any 2026-dated issue carrying his effigy part of the first wave of Perth's bullion series to complete a full calendar year under the new obverse.

The Jody Clark portrait used here was originally sculpted for the Royal Mint in 2015, while Elizabeth II was still on the throne.
