Reverse description A powerful bald eagle in dynamic high relief is depicted in full flight, banking to the left with wings outstretched and talons clutching an olive branch, rendered with exceptional feather detail. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower border. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM appears in the left-center field, accompanied by the West Point mintmark W to its left and the sculptor's initials PCB (Paul C. Balan) to its right. The fineness and weight specification 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD is inscribed above the lower legend. The reverse design, engraved by Phebe Hemphill after a model by Paul C. Balan, showcases the sculptural depth and dynamic composition characteristic of this high-relief issue.
