Obverse description The national arms of Trinidad and Tobago are depicted centrally in the field, featuring a shield charged with two hummingbirds above three Spanish galleons, supported by a Scarlet Ibis dexter and a Cocrico sinister, each standing on a stylised wave base. Above the shield rises a helmet and mantling surmounted by a ship's wheel and a palm tree as crest. Below, a scroll carries the national motto in the legend: TOGETHER WE ASPIRE TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE. The country name REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO arcs along the upper periphery, while the fineness inscription 500/1000 FINE GOLD and the date 1982 appear in the lower field.
