Obverse description The obverse is dominated by a central intaglio vignette of a Hong Kong harbour scene framed by two classical columns, set within an elaborate guilloche border with corner medallions bearing the numeral 100. The bank title 'THE MERCANTILE BANK OF INDIA LIMITED' arcs above the central vignette, with the denomination 'ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS' in bold letterpress below. Chinese characters reading 香港有利銀行 appear in vertical panels on both left and right margins, and two manuscript signatures of the Accountant and Manager appear across the lower portion of the note.
