Obverse description The obverse presents a central intaglio vignette of the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa, rendered in fine line engraving within an ornate frame. The denomination "100" appears in large guilloche-filled ovals at left and right, with the title "THE DOMINION OF CANADA" in bold gothic script across the upper centre. The note carries manuscript-style text for the date "1st March 1872" at right, signature lines reading "For Minister of Finance" at lower left and "For Receiver General" at lower right, with the imprint "Canada Bank Note Printing Test" and the printer's name along the lower border.
