Algeria's central bank had its currency printed in France well into the post-independence period — a logistical arrangement that outlasted any political awkwardness, and this 1992 issue is a late example of that continuing relationship with the Chamalières facility. The Bank of France's security printing works there had been producing Algerian notes for years by this point.

The watermark is the sole listed security feature, modest by early 1990s standards, at a time when other central banks were adopting metallic threads and intaglio-printed serial numbering as baseline requirements.
