| Additional information |
Vietnam issued this piece two years before the Sydney Games as part of a broader wave of Olympic commemorative programs that flooded collector markets throughout the late 1990s. The State Bank participated in these licensing arrangements largely as a hard-currency revenue exercise — the coins were never intended for domestic circulation and were sold almost exclusively through international numismatic distributors.
KM#77 is one of several Vietnamese Olympic issues from this period, all sharing the same .999 silver specification and produced in limited quantities by contract mints outside Vietnam.
