| Obverse description | At centre, the Nicaraguan national emblem: an equilateral triangle enclosing five volcanoes rising from the sea beneath a radiant Phrygian cap, all rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The emblem is enclosed within a raised circular border, around which runs the legend BANCO CENTRAL DE NICARAGUA arcing across the upper portion. Below the emblem, the inscription FUNDADO EN 1960 appears in two lines. The entire central design is framed by a broad laurel wreath, and a stepped or serrated decorative border runs along the outer rim. |
