Obverse description Central design features a decorative vase within a square arrangement of four large Chinese characters, read from top to bottom and right to left. Surrounding the central motif, additional Chinese characters form a circular legend along the periphery of the field. The inscription records the province of issue, the reign title Guangxu, the cyclical year designation Xinchu (1901), the denomination of one hundred cash, and the term Yuanbao denoting original or primary currency. The overall layout is typical of late Qing provincial coinage, combining classical calligraphic script with a symmetrical, ordered design.
