Reverse description The reverse displays four characters arranged around the central square hole in cruciform fashion. The top and bottom positions bear Chinese characters in regular script reading 當百 (Dang Bai, meaning 'equivalent to one hundred'), while the left and right positions carry the Manchu script rendering of 'Boo-san' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᠰᠠᠨ), identifying the Board of Revenue Mint in Beijing. The casting is clean, with bold, deeply incised strokes set within a plain raised border, consistent with the large-denomination cash coins of the Xianfeng era.
