Obverse description Four Chinese seal script (zhuanshu) characters arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation, reading 太平百錢 (Tai Ping Bai Qian, meaning 'One Hundred Cash of Great Peace'). The characters are read top-to-bottom and right-to-left in the traditional manner: 太 above, 錢 below, 平 to the right, and 百 to the left of the central void. A raised square rim surrounds the central hole, itself enclosed within an outer circular border. The coin surface displays typical earthen patina consistent with age, with traces of green cuprite encrustation.
