| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely detailed bust of Andrés Bello facing slightly forward, occupying the central field with naturalistic modelling of his facial features and period clothing including a high collar. The legend ANDRES BELLO arcs along the upper periphery in evenly spaced capital letters. The commemorative dates 1781 and 1981, marking the bicentennial of Bello's birth, are placed in the lower field to the left and right of the portrait respectively, separated by a small decorative ornament at the base of the bust. |
