The Socialist Soviet Republic of Armenia had an extraordinarily brief independent existence before full incorporation into the Transcaucasian SFSR in March 1922 — meaning this 100,000 Rouble note was issued by a state already in the process of being dissolved. The denomination itself reflects the catastrophic inflation that had consumed the region, driven by the combined effects of war, famine, and the 1921–22 humanitarian crisis that killed hundreds of thousands across the South Caucasus.

S682 is among the higher denominations of the Armenian Soviet series. Notes from this issuer survive in relatively small numbers, partly because the political transition disrupted orderly banking records and redemption processes.
