Obverse description Typeset letterpress note with a decorative border of repeated text reading HIESIGEN/BANKEN, AUSSER/BEI/DEN, STÄDT./KASSEN/BEI/SÄMTLICHEN and DIE/EINLÖSUNG/ERFOLGT. The denomination 100000 appears in a cartouche at top centre, with the value spelled out in Gothic script below. A handwritten signature of the Oberbürgermeister and a dry embossed stamp appear at lower right, with series letter and serial number at lower left.

Reverse description Central circular vignette reproduces a 1619 copperplate engraving by Matthäus Merian showing a panoramic view of Heidelberg Castle and town as seen from the Heiligenberg. Superimposed in the foreground is the University of Heidelberg coat of arms: a rampant Palatine lion holding an open book inscribed SEMPERAPERTUS. The denomination 100000 is printed in large ornate figures flanking the vignette on both sides, with descriptive text running along all four borders.
