Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large circular vignette at centre, reproducing in mirror image the oldest known woodcut view of Heidelberg dated 1526, taken from Sebastian Münster's Calendarium Hebraicum, with the castle shown under construction on the hillside above the town and the river in the foreground. Flanking the vignette on left and right are vertically oriented numerals '100000 MARK' in ornate scroll work. Explanatory legends in small Gothic type run along all four borders, identifying the source of the image.
