| Obverse description | Pink-toned Notgeld voucher (Gutschein) printed in dark grey letterpress on plain paper, enclosed within a fine guilloche border with ornamental corner rosettes. The denomination "100 000 000 M." and the serial number appear in the upper register, with the issuing authority named in two lines of Gothic script below. The large-format denomination legend "Einhundert Millionen Mark" occupies the centre field in bold blackletter type, with validity and date clauses below, dated Stollberg i. E., 1. The Amtshauptmannschaft Stollberg was a rural administrative district in Saxony, and by August 1923 even district-level authorities were printing emergency currency because the Reichsbank simply could not supply denominations large enough to meet daily wage packets. The hundred-million mark figure — which would have been unthinkable eighteen months earlier — was already borderline inadequate by the time this note reached circulation. Stollberg's Notgeld series was printed at the Rats-Druckerei in Glauchau, roughly 15 kilometers west, one of several regional presses pressed into service across Saxony that summer.
Shelf life for notes of this denomination was measured in days, not weeks.
