Additional information

Poniatowski ruled as Poland's last king from 1764 until the Third Partition extinguished the Polish state in 1795, after which he abdicated under Russian pressure and died in St. Petersburg in 1798 — a pensioner of the court that had helped destroy his country. This coin is part of Poland's ongoing "History of Polish Coins" series, which revisits the coinage of earlier Polish rulers as a way of documenting monetary history across successive Polish states.

The series began in the early 2000s and typically carries low mintage ceilings, keeping secondary market premiums firm on most issues.
