Reverse description At centre, a finely modelled bust-length portrait of Mikołaj Rej (1505–1569), the renowned Polish Renaissance writer and poet, facing three-quarters to the left, wearing a wide-brimmed cap and a fur-trimmed mantle with a laced collar, rendered in relief against a recessed frosted oval field. The annular legend '500. ROCZNICA URODZIN MIKOŁAJA REJA' encircles the upper and right periphery of the coin. The dates '1505–1569' are inscribed along the lower border below the portrait.
