Reverse description A right-facing bust of the astronomer Mikołaj Kopernik (Nicolaus Copernicus) occupies the central field, depicted in Renaissance attire with a fur-trimmed collar, rendered in high relief in the portrait style of sculptor Józef Gosławski. Sprigs of laurel or grain frame the bust on either side. The legend 'MIKOŁAJ KOPERNIK' arcs along the upper periphery, with the inscription 'PRÓBA' (trial strike) and the engraver's initials 'JG' appearing in the right field, confirming the pattern status of this piece.
