Reverse description A three-quarter facing bust of Sigismund II Augustus, last king of the Jagiellonian dynasty, is depicted in Renaissance style, wearing a feathered beret and fur-trimmed robes characteristic of 16th-century royal attire. The effigy is set against an elaborate background evoking a decorative tapestry or cartouche featuring the royal cipher SA (Sigismundus Augustus) surmounted by a crown within foliate ornament, referencing the famous Wawel tapestries commissioned by the king. To the right, a fragment of a heraldic design or armorial panel further enriches the historical composition. Along the lower arc, the inscriptions 1548–1572 and ZYGMUNT II AUGUST identify the subject and his reign dates.
