In 1970, the Polish People's Republic commemorated the 25th anniversary of the postwar territorial reorganization that transferred the former German eastern provinces — Silesia, Pomerania, and southern East Prussia — to Polish administration following the Potsdam Agreement. Trial strikes like this one were produced by Mennica Państwowa in multiple metal variants to evaluate designs before committing to a final production composition. The nickel version corresponds to Fischer Po#P115a, distinguishing it from the copper and aluminum trials catalogued separately under the same ParM series.
