Obverse description The obverse features the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed at centre, each head surmounted by a small crown and the whole topped by a large Imperial crown. The eagle bears on its breast a quartered shield with the arms of the Russian Empire, and holds a sceptre in its right talon and an orb in its left. The mintmaster's initials НГ appear beneath the eagle's tail feathers. The circular legend surrounding the design reads the silver fineness and weight specification, all enclosed within a continuous beaded border.
