Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed relief depiction of a historic Polish military biplane from the early period of Polish aviation, shown in a dramatic diagonal composition with its wings bearing the Polish Air Force chequerboard insignia. In the upper portion of the field, a sculpted eagle with spread wings rises above the aircraft, referencing the heraldic tradition of Polish military aviation. Scattered spherical elements in the background evoke anti-aircraft fire or a combat environment. The curved inscription '100-LECIE POLSKIEGO LOTNICTWA WOJSKOWEGO' (100th Anniversary of Polish Military Aviation) runs around the entire circumference of the coin.

Additional information

Polish military aviation traces its formal origin to November 1918, when the newly reconstituted Polish state inherited a patchwork of aircraft and personnel from the collapsing German, Austro-Hungarian, and Russian imperial forces. Within weeks, these improvised units were already flying combat sorties — the Polish-Soviet War of 1919–1921 became the first major conflict in which air power played a recognizable tactical role on the Eastern Front. The centennial this coin marks falls in a year when Poland was simultaneously expanding its F-16 fleet under NATO commitments.
