| Reverse description | A full-length frontal figure of Christ stands in majesty within a beaded elliptical mandorla, his right hand raised in benediction and left hand holding the Gospels. The mandorla is bordered by a ring of large five-pointed stars, widely and evenly spaced, lending a solemn celestial character to the design. The surrounding legend, rendered in medieval Latin abbreviation, reads SIT·T·XPE·DAT·Q·TV·REGIS·ISTE·DVCAT·, a traditional Venetian votive inscription meaning 'May this ducat that you rule be consecrated to you, O Christ.' The overall design follows the long-established iconographic tradition of the Venetian zecchino, maintaining the hieratic Byzantine-influenced style characteristic of the Venetian mint's gold coinage. |
