The emblem is rendered in high relief against a finely detailed background adorned with decorative cloud and floral scrollwork filling the lobed field. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs around the upper portion of the emblem in Chinese characters. The date 2016 appears in the lower exergue area beneath the emblem.

Additional information

China's Lunar Series II monkey coin had an unusually fraught production history: the People's Bank of China reduced the official mintage cap for the 30g .999 silver issues relative to earlier series entries, tightening secondary market supply almost immediately upon release. The 2016 date also marks the first Lunar Series II monkey year, the series having launched in 2010, meaning no direct predecessor existed within the same series to anchor collector expectations on pricing.
