China's lunar silver program has run annually since 1981, but the 2012 Dragon issue is among the most heavily traded in the secondary market — dragon years consistently generate outsized demand within Chinese diaspora communities, and the People's Bank has historically kept mintages on these tighter than the market expects. The 2012 issue sold out through official channels almost immediately upon release.
