Obverse description The obverse displays the national emblem of the People's Republic of China at center, featuring Tiananmen Gate surmounted by five stars, encircled by ears of grain and a cogwheel, all set within an elaborate floral and scrollwork border conforming to the coin's eight-lobed scalloped shape. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs around the upper periphery in raised Chinese characters. The date 2018 appears in the lower field beneath the central emblem. The entire design is rendered in polished proof-quality relief against a finely textured background.

Additional information

China's lunar silver series has issued scalloped-edge coins for the smaller-denomination pieces since the format was introduced in the 1980s, distinguishing them from the round higher-denomination issues struck in the same lunar year. The 2018 dog year fell under the Wù Xū year in the sexagenary cycle — the 35th stem-branch combination, recurring once every 60 years.

These 10 Yuan pieces are legal tender but were never intended for circulation, sold directly through the China Gold Coin Corporation at a premium over melt from issue date.
