Teller training notes issued by the Agricultural Bank of China were produced for internal staff instruction — used in branch drills to teach cash-handling procedures and counterfeit detection without risking genuine currency. They are not legal tender and were never intended for public circulation, which is precisely why they surface so rarely outside China. The Agricultural Bank, reconstituted in its modern form in 1979 after earlier incarnations under the planned economy, issued training materials including these facsimile notes as retail banking expanded rapidly through the 1980s and 1990s.
Surviving examples were typically destroyed after training cycles concluded.
