Reverse description Central device features a vivid polychrome-enameled scene from the Peking Opera production 'Bao Lian Deng' (宝莲灯, The Lotus Lantern), depicting two elaborately costumed opera performers in dynamic theatrical pose; the foreground figure, richly attired in traditional stage costume with flowing ribbons, holds aloft a blossoming lotus lantern, while a second figure stands close behind. The denomination '10元' appears in the upper right field in incuse numerals. To the left, the inscriptions 中国京剧 (Chinese Peking Opera) and 宝莲灯 (Bao Lian Deng) are engraved vertically in the field.
