Reverse description The central field features a finely engraved, full-length figure of a dan (旦) character from Peking Opera, elaborately costumed in traditional theatrical dress with headdress ornaments and a long ribbon prop held aloft, depicted in a dynamic performance pose. To the right, two smaller attendant figures are shown in subsidiary poses, conveying the theatrical ensemble. The denomination 10元 appears in the upper right field. A vertical inscription in the left field reads 京剧艺术(旦剧)始于公元十八世纪, identifying the subject as the dan role of Peking Opera with origins in the 18th century. The overall design celebrates the classical performing arts tradition of China in a style characteristic of Chinese commemorative gold coinage of the period.
