(Translation: Year 15 of the Republic of China 10 Yuan Shantung Province Gold Coin)
Reverse description The reverse presents an elaborate heraldic composition centred on a shield or escutcheon bearing archaic Chinese decorative motifs, supported by a phoenix (fenghuang) to the left and a five-clawed dragon to the right, both rendered in high relief in the traditional Chinese imperial style. Above the central shield, a stylised sun or pearl device is prominently displayed between the two mythical creatures. The lower portion of the field features interlocking scroll-work and ribbon-like drapery incorporating classical Chinese geometric fret patterns, with the dragon's and phoenix's talons extending into the lower field. The entire composition fills the field to the reeded border, with no legends present on this side.
