Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Yuan Shikai, self-proclaimed Hongxian Emperor, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail. The subject is depicted in military uniform with an epaulette bearing rank insignia visible at the truncation. The effigy displays naturalistic facial modeling with a short goatee and close-cropped hair, executed in the Western academic style characteristic of engraver Luigi Giorgi. The field is smooth and unlettered, with a finely dentilated border encircling the design.

Reverse description A winged dragon in dynamic flight to the left occupies the central field, its scaled body sinuously rendered in fine relief with bat-like wings fully extended and clawed talons clutching a bundle of reeds below. The design is executed in a hybrid East-West artistic style befitting Giorgi's hand. Four Chinese characters arranged in an arc above read 中華帝國 (Empire of China), while four characters below read 洪憲紀元 (First Year of Hongxian), with the denomination 拾圓 (10 Yuan) to the right. The engraver's signature L.GIORGI appears in small Latin letters at the lower left of the field. A dentilated border frames the entire design.
