China's Panda silver bullion series has carried an annually changing design since its 1983 introduction — one of the few sovereign bullion programs in the world that does not repeat its design. The 2020 issue was struck during a year when global silver demand spiked sharply amid pandemic-driven market disruption, and secondary market premiums on this date ran unusually high through mid-2021.
Production is split between the Shanghai and Shenzhen mints, with subtle differences in finish quality occasionally noted between facilities.
