Issued as part of China's long-running provincial commemorative series, this piece marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, founded in 1958 when the former Guangxi Province was reorganized to grant nominal autonomy to the Zhuang people — China's largest ethnic minority group, numbering over 16 million at the time of the region's creation.
