| Obverse description | Central field depicts a detailed view of the Jinding (Golden Summit) temple complex at Mount Emei (峨嵋山金顶) in Sichuan Province, rendered in fine relief with traditional multi-tiered pagoda rooftops, surrounding walls, rocky terrain, and stylized pine trees and clouds in the foreground. The Chinese legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs along the upper periphery. The Kuan Yin silver series, running through much of the 1990s, was aimed squarely at the international bullion and collector market rather than domestic circulation — part of China Mint's broader push to generate hard currency through numismatic exports. The 1999 issue was among the final entries before the series was discontinued, making mintages for the late-date pieces comparatively harder to confirm through official channels.
