The Farmer's Bank of Chung-Chou was a regional bank operating under Nationalist-aligned authorities in Henan province. By 1948, the civil war had severely destabilized currency across Nationalist-held territories, and provincial and quasi-governmental banks like this one were issuing notes in parallel with the Central Bank of China — notes that often depreciated faster than they could circulate. This issue belongs to that chaotic final phase of Nationalist monetary control in the region, before the People's Liberation Army consolidated control over Henan later that year.
