| Reverse description | A full-length statue of Sun Yat-sen is depicted standing in the central field, rendered in relief against an architectural background representing the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. The university motto is inscribed in two columns of classical Chinese characters arranged in a grid format occupying the lower portion of the field. The commemorative legend 中山大学建校100周年 (Centenary of the Founding of Sun Yat-sen University) appears prominently, and the English inscription SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY CENTENARY CELEBRATION arcs along the lower margin. |

| Additional information |
Sun Yat-sen University was founded in Guangzhou in 1924 by Sun Yat-sen himself, then serving as director-general of the Kuomintang, who envisioned it as a training ground for revolutionary and administrative cadres. The institution survived Japanese occupation, wartime relocation to the interior, and the post-1949 restructuring that stripped away its medical and engineering faculties to form separate institutions — losses only partially reversed in subsequent decades.
China's commemorative silver program for university centenaries has expanded markedly since 2019, with this issue joining a now-crowded field.
