Comments

The Bank of Nen Chiang (嫩江銀行) was a regional Communist-backed institution established in Heilongjiang province during the immediate post-WWII struggle for control of Manchuria. With Soviet forces withdrawing and Nationalist and Communist armies racing to fill the vacuum, local currency issuance became a political act — these notes were tools of administrative control as much as economic instruments.

The Pick references S3507L and S3507M denote signature varieties within the same emission, a detail that matters more to specialists than the surface difference suggests, since such variants from short-lived regional issuers rarely survive in quantity from any signing combination.
