Part of the People's Bank of China's long-running Auspicious Culture series, which began in 2016 and draws on traditional Chinese folk symbols tied to harvest cycles, filial piety, and celestial calendars. Each annual release targets both domestic collectors and the overseas Chinese diaspora market, a demographic the PBOC has explicitly courted through themed bullion programs since the early 2000s.
Mintage for the series is capped and allocated through state-authorized dealers, keeping secondary market premiums elevated even on recent dates.
